Dental Fillings - Repairing decayed teeth

Fillings are needed when there is decay in the tooth creating a cavity (hole) in the tooth. If this isn’t treated then bacteria can work its way into the tooth leading to infection and disease. If left untreated this becomes more and more painful and may lead to tooth loss if completely left untreated.

There are primarily 4 types of dental filling materials commonly used, that are composite white fillings, porcelain fillings, gold fillings and traditional grey amalgam fillings.

At  Lohith’s Dental Studio, Mostly we use the most effective, modern, tooth-coloured materials. Unlike the more traditional grey amalgam fillings, the tooth-coloured ones look very natural, so no-one will be able to tell you have them.

We will then shape the filling, so that it looks as realistic as possible, and so it does not interfere with the way your teeth meet when you bite and chew.

We offer a range of dental fillings to suit your clinical situation, aesthetic requirements and budget. The best thing to do is to request an appointment.

FAQs

Your dentist numbs your mouth to ensure that you won’t feel any pain during the procedure. After removing the decayed portion, she’ll clean the tooth to remove debris and bacteria and add the filling material to the tooth.

Your tooth may feel a little sensitive after it’s filled. Sensitivity is completely normal and usually goes away in a day or two.

Tooth-colored fillings are used because they are completely unnoticeable, require removal of a smaller area of healthy tooth structure and bond to teeth, strengthening them.

Fillings can last five to 10 years or longer before they need to be replaced.
